CalSAE Case Study

How We Found GoLightly

GoLightly became a sponsor of our organization in 2008 and exhibited at our annual Passport to Education Conference. After two of our staff members saw a demo at the GoLightly booth, they were so enthusiastic that they pushed for us to implement GoLightly's social networking.

Why We Selected GoLightly
We found that GoLightly was easy for people to connect, and exchange information.

How We Are Using It

Our committees use the group functions, agendas, documents, and announcements. Our members use GoLightly to build a more active, engaged community.

We're heavy users of the group libraries. We're using GoLightly as a documentation tool to post past agendas, minutes from our meetings, job descriptions, and orientation documents. It's so much easier to upload everything to a central virtual library instead of sending masses of information over email.

We also use GoLightly to entice members to go to conferences. It's the "I'm going, are you?" messages that really work in this venue.

Benefits From Using GoLightly

Everyone who gets in likes it!

GoLightly provides a platform to plan for the future. Members and staff can see the evolution and growth in our organization, and we can gather all our brain trust in a secure place. We noticed an immediate shift when we moved from a Yahoo listserve over to GoLightly platform which gave members a way to experiment with out feeling exposed to the general public.

Although it is hard to quantify immediate cost and time savings, I know we are saving time by implementing GoLightly. Overall, it's a fabulous tool for our organization!

Who we Are
CalSAE serves over 1,200 members, and is the third largest local society of association executives in the nation. The California-based association provides education and training programs, services, and networking opportunities for association management.

"GoLightly is so compelling because it is association driven. The tools we use the most: groups, calendar and library - are all in one place.  GoLightly  is easier to use than Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn to aggregate the same set of tools"

"We're creating a history and historical time line with the libraries, which helps new members access and understand the evolution of our organization. This feature is particularly helpful in creating better quality proposals and documents. I estimate, for every 10 hours of work a member puts in, he or she gets 20 hours worth of productivity back."
