Q1. Two IMIS records exist with two different names, two different member ID #s, two different sets of username/password, but share the same email address. Does GoLightly give both records access?
A1. The same email address will not be given to two GoLightly profiles. By default, every GoLightly profile must have at least one unique email address. If you have two IMIS records that share the same email address, by default the second IMIS record will not create a GoLightly profile unless that second profile has another unique email address.
  • See A3. below to find IMIS records that do not have corresponding GoLightly profiles.
  • See A4. below to find out how to force GoLightly to create a profile for IMIS records that do not have an email address.

Q2. How does GoLightly handle IMIS records that do not include any email addresses?
A2. By default an email address is required in order to create a GoLightly profile. This default can be changed as described in A4 below.

Q3. Where can I see the IMIS records that did not have GoLightly profiles created for them?
A3. You can see the accounts that were not created by following these steps:
  1. Go to "Admin Tools"
  2. Then "Bridge Status"
  3. Then find "2. Profiles to Process"
  4. Click "[show detail]" and review the profiles listed
  5. Please contact support@golightly.com if you have any questions about this feature.

Q4. How can I force GoLightly to create a profile for IMIS records that do not have an email address (or at least one unique email address)?
A4. If you wish to allow IMIS to create a profile in GoLightly even if there isn't a unique email address, follow these steps.
  1. Go to "Admin Tools"
  2. Then "Verify IMIS Installation"
  3. Click "[show]" next to item 5 "Configure: Retrieving Member Profiles"
  4. Remove "email," from item 5.3
  5. The next time profiles are updated (usually hourly), GoLightly accounts will be created for the IMIS records shown on the Bridge Status page.
  6. See also "iMIS accounts cannot be created because email address is already in use – How to fix"

Q5. What does GoLightly do if the email address on the IMIS record is bad?
A5. If an email address associated with an IMIS record uses an invalid format, the email will not be added to the GoLightly profile. Emails coming from IMIS with a valid email format are assumed to be working email addresses until the GoLightly mail servers attempt to deliver a message to that email address, and receive a permanent bounce.

Q6. Where can I find a summary of email addresses that are bouncing?
A6. You can export a list of all email addresses (including IMIS ID's) that have bounced permanently by going here:
  1. Go to "Admin Tools"
  2. Then "Bounced Emails"
  3. Click on "Export file" to download a CSV with all permanently bounced emails. This report includes a column for "ID" which is the IMIS ID.

Q7. Can my members add more email addresses to GoLightly?
A7. By default, additional email addresses must be added to the IMIS record, which are then brought over to the GoLightly profile. GoLightly supports an unlimited number of email addresses. If you wish to allow your members to add additional email addresses directly to GoLightly instead of in IMIS, please email support@golightly.com.
