Quick Reply takes you to the Quick Reply box on the page you are already on, it has fewer formatting options than Post Reply does, so it is "quicker" to use. Post Reply takes you to a new page where you have much more extensive formatting options for your reply.

Is it possible to remove the "Post Reply" feature? It is a little confusing to have two similar functionalities and I don't think our users will need the extensive formatting options.

Hi Katie,

You can disable the Quick Reply option.......

Go to Admin Tools, Forum Control Panels.

Select VBulletin Options , and then select Message Posting and Editing Options.

Here you can select to enable or not enable Quick Reply.

You can also select Message Posting Interface Options and turn off the full editing of replies.

Thank you for you quick response.

I actually much prefer the functionality of "Quick Reply" to "Post Reply." Is there a way to turn off "Post Reply"?

You can only turn off Quick Reply.
You can disable the message formatting toolbar and the smilies in the Post Reply. This would make the Post Reply interface much simpler and more like the Quick Reply.

thanks! the thing that we do not like about "post reply" is that to respond, it puts the editor on the top of the page above the comment thread. It is jarring and doesn't feel like you are responding to an existing thread. It feels like you are posting something new. It even asks for a title.

Is that configurable?

You can turn off that editor and automatically use the existing title in the title of the reply.
I have just changed the settings of this forum to do this.
Please now select Post Reply here and see if this would be what you want.
