Group

Q. What is a Group?

A. A Group is something like an email list or as some call it, a listserv, but with more than just an email conversation component. It is more similar to a "Yahoogroup," if you are familiar with those. There is an email interaction component of each Group, and there are archives of the email messages for each. There is also a Shared Library of resources and stories that Group Members of the Group (and visitors, if the Group is open) can use and contribute to. Each Group also has a Wiki Notebook, which is like a Web site for shared use by the Group Members (see Wikis). Like email lists, Groups have moderators and Group Members. Anyone can join if they are open; if they are closed, then new Group Members must be approved by a moderator. They can also be public or private. (See How do we make our Group private?) In a private Group, conversations, etc., are not viewable by non-members.
